Strengthen Your Core With The Lateral Slide

Aloha from the big island of Hawaii!

My awesome hubby is home taking care of the pups while I spend some quality time here with my girlfriends. Moving twice in six months was quite a bit of work so he encouraged me to take some time off for a little rest and relaxation. The beach is a perfect place for that!

I promise he won’t be left out. We are planning a trip for the two of us in the near future. 🙂

If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you may have noticed that I never allow the pressures of society to determine whether or not I put on a bathing suit. I recommend that you don’t either. However, I do believe that it’s normal to want to tone the body you’ve been blessed with before you hit the beach. The exercise I share in this video is great way to do that.

First and foremost, this move is a great core stability exercise that can help you maintain good posture and a healthy back. However, it also targets some areas of your body that tend to be exposed more often in the warmer months. There is no such thing as spot reducing, but you can certainly target muscle groups.

Enjoy the video and please remember, the only thing you have to do to get “beach ready” is put on your suit. No exercises are ever required. The best beach body is the one you already rock. 🙂

Have a great week!

P.S. This exercise is not intended to be a substitute for anything a medial professional has prescribed you. It is recommended that you consult a physician prior to starting a new exercise routine. 🙂

Strengthen Your Core With This Nontraditional Move

I believe it’s a good idea to spice up your exercise routine from time to time.  Health and fitness is constantly evolving.  Especially when it comes to functional fitness and training your core.  Traditional exercises like sit-ups and crunches have their place in a fitness routine, but they only offer so much when it comes to training your core.

Since most of your daily activities are performed in an upright position, performing core exercises while standing can be a more effective way to build overall strength, tone your muscles, and improve functional fitness.  That doesn’t mean floor work is wrong or not worth your time, it simply means it’s a good idea to add some standing core work to your routine.

In today’s video I share a nontraditional standing exercise that will help to tone and strengthen your core. It can also help improve balance and coordination.  That’s a lot of great exercise in a short amount of time!

Take a moment to watch the short video below. It’s a great exercise and I’m super excited to share it with you.

Enjoy!

Tone And Strengthen Your Core With This One Move

Strengthen Your Core

Last week I was battling a cold of some sort so I took my own advice and decided to get some rest.   I didn’t want to show up empty-handed without a fitness tip for you this week so I went into the video archives and pulled out two exercise videos that are timeless.

Today’s videos feature the “Bridge” exercise and “Marching in a Bridge.”  If you’ve been doing bridges for a while and they are getting easy for you, marching in a bridge will help you take your core routine to the next level.  If you’re just getting started then I recommend you start with the basic bridge and then work your way up to the more advanced bridge.  Both are very effective when it comes to strengthening and toning your “core.”

Three of my favorite things about bridging exercises are you don’t need any equipment, you can pretty much do them anywhere, and you get great results when you do them.  That’s a winning combination when it comes to weaving exercise into your daily lifestyle.

Scroll down to watch the videos and have a fun and fit week!
