One Simple Diet Tip For The Holidays

Happy Thanksgiving from Personal Trainer & Lifestyle Coach Jennifer Ledford!

One Simple Diet Tip For The Holidays

Traditionally, the Thanksgiving holiday is a day to celebrate how grateful we are for the blessings in our lives.  One of the ways we celebrate our thanks is to enjoy a meal with family and/or friends.

For the diet industry, this season has become a time to capitalize on selling “guilt free” holiday eating tips to the public.  Talk about a total buzz kill.

First off, guilt should never be associated with food ever.  While the diet industry might mean well, research continues to prove that diets cause more harm than good, and more stress than pleasure.  So why on earth, should any of us want to go into diet mode during the holiday season?

I can give you a list of reasons why I recommend you avoid dieting during the holidays and every day of your life.  However, in an effort to keep this blog post short, (some of you may be busy and/or traveling this week), I’m offering one simple tip when it comes to the holidays and food.  Enjoy yourself.

I’m not suggesting you completely disregard self control.  That might actually make you feel kind of yucky.  What I am suggesting is that you enjoy yourself and enter into this holiday season with a sense of peace around food.  Whether you are celebrating in a large group or spending the holidays quietly at home, allow yourself to have fun, give thanks, and taste all that the season has to offer.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

With Love,

Jennifer

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July from Jennifer Ledford - Certified Personal Trainer and Healthy Lifestyle Coach

Happy Fourth of July!

Tomorrow we celebrate our nation’s independence and take a moment to remember the men and women who sacrificed much – and in many cases EVERYTHING – for the freedoms we enjoy today.  Let us never take for granted that this great nation allows us to pursue life, liberty, and happiness each and every day.  For that, I am truly grateful!

Whether you are at a big celebration or spending it quietly at home, freedom is always something that can be celebrated in our hearts.  🙂  Have a happy, healthy, and safe holiday.

God bless you and America!

Why I Leave Our Christmas Lights On ALL Night Long

The cool thing about having your own blog is you get to share whatever you want on it.  🙂

It’s the week before Christmas and rather than sharing “ten more tips on how to avoid holiday weight gain” like almost every other health and wellness website on the internet,  I thought it would be much more fun for everyone if I shared one of my fondest Christmas memories with you.

When I was a little girl we would visit my grandparents that lived in San Francisco for Christmas. After we had spent a wonderful evening feasting, laughing, and opening presents we would make the late drive home to the Pacific coast where we lived.  As we made our way home, I remember gazing at row after row of beautiful Victorian homes all decked out for Christmas. It would take my breath away.

Making Childhood Memories With Christmas Lights

Now that I’m all grown up and we have a Victorian of our own, I love to put a tree in the window and hang lights and wreaths for the world to see. When bedtime rolls around and the practical side of me thinks I should unplug the lights I’m gently reminded of that little girl who was always blessed by the people that decided to leave their lights on late into the night.  With a smile on my face and warmth in my heart,  I stop myself and leave them on just in case there’s another man, woman, or child out there that will be just as blessed as I was.

Have yourself a VERY Merry Christmas!
